Our Story
Established in 2012, The mission of New Tech for Education is to empower all K-12 students and teachers to become digitally literate and competent citizens equipped to compete and succeed in our ever-changing digital world. To this end, New Tech for Education is a for profit organization, which offers comprehensive technology consulting and evaluation directly to students, educators, schools and public agencies.
Our principal consultant: Tara Mason, Ph.D., M.Ed.
Hello, my name is Tara Mason. I hold a Ph.D. in Special Education with specialty areas of assistive technology, instructional technology, serving students with mild to significant impairments, and visual impairments. I currently work as a special education teacher in the Boulder Valley School District. Previously, I worked as the Lead Special Education Instructional Coach and Assistive Technology Program Specialist for St. Vrain Valley Schools. I am an adjunct professor for Fitchburg University, Perkins School for the Blind, eLearning, and the University of Northern Colorado's Center for Urban Education. While completing my Ph.D. I supervised TVI interns in Texas and worked as a research and teaching assistant for several courses in Texas Tech's TVI graduate level program. I have over fifteen years classroom teaching experience, working across K-12 in both special education and general education settings. I completed my Masters in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My undergraduate is in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin.
